Abstract
Skin aging has been considered a physiological and multifactorial phenomenon that has led to the search for options for its approach, with Photonic Medicine being a widely used alternative. This motivated the present quasi-experimental study intending to evaluate the effectiveness of Photodynamic Therapy in facial rejuvenation in a sample of 23 patients who attended a private consultation, in whom a clinical evaluation was carried out before and after applying the protocol consisting of an exfoliative peeling, followed by the application of a photosensitizing serum based on 0.5% high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, 0.4% low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, 2% colloidal gold, 0.1% ALA (aminolevulinic acid), Centella Reversa 3 %, Matrixyl 2% and Argirelox 10%, with an occlusive period of 10 minutes, followed by exposure to red light with a wavelength of 660nm for 20 minutes using a LED facial camera, for a total of 4 sessions with an interval of 21 days between each. Most patients (47.83%) were between 40 and 49 years old, more than 90% had a Fitzpatrick skin phototype III and IV, and 60.87% had grade II skin photoaging. In terms of clinical results according to the Merz scale, there was a significant improvement in wrinkles and skin laxity. Regarding the level of satisfaction with the clinical changes obtained after photodynamic therapy, 69.57% were satisfied, and 26.08% were very satisfied. These results show that the protocol used is a good short-term therapeutic alternative with high efficacy and tolerance in comprehensive facial rejuvenation.
